Senior Instrument Technician

Review maintenance and repair requirements on a regular basis in order to plan work programmes to meet internal deadlines.
Implement maintenance procedures and plans for the following systems:
Plant Distributed Control System including hardware changes and the performance of software configurations and modifications.
Gas turbine control and Compressor Control systems.
Meter proving system (flow computers, totalizers, etc.) including hardware changes and the performance of software configurations and modifications.
Hydraulically powered marine loading arms, specifically Woodfield systems.
Hydraulic and electronic wellhead control, particularly Allen Bradley PLC controllers.
Ensure maximum reliability and availability of safety shutdown control systems for the Margham plant, field and Jebel Ali storage/loading facilities.
Remain abreast with up to date regulations, standards and good working practices within the industry.
Provide technical expertise to ensure that all equipment/material purchases meet with actual job requirements and necessary standards.
Carry out Gas / liquid flow metering and calculations (AGA 3), ensuring accuracy in the same.
Perform calibration and testing of fixed and portable fire and gas detection equipment.
Read drawings and parts lists and develop bills of material.
Develop maintenance procedures and job scopes for inclusion in computerized maintenance system.
Supervise permanent and temporary contract labour so as to ensure safe and effective implementation of daily duties.
Contribute to MDE's continuous improvement in HSE performance by ensuring safety and environmental standards are maintained within the workplace in accordance with the OES, including the prompt reporting of any safety or environmental hazards or potential safety or environmental hazards identified.ADDITIONAL QUALITATIVE DATA: List the qualitative aspects of the position which are unique. Provide details of jobs framework, boundaries and decision making authority.
The Margham facility utilizes a wide range of equipment including complex and costly process, control, utilities and high pressure rotating equipment, much of which is old and requires creative solutions to ensure continued reliable operation when parts become difficult to obtain or require modification. Margham is a locally owned facility with no parent company to advise or assist; consequently, solutions must be developed in-house.
Essential to this position is the ability to Design, engineer and develop modifications to existing equipment ensuring conformance to all relevant standards.
Available on a 24-hour call out basis for emergency work related problems.
High degree of motivation and autonomy. Expected to work with minimum supervision.
Familiar with permit to work systems and Risk Assessment procedures for pre-scoped work.
